Turkish Night

We met our friends at Marti. Vahap Sumer and Fatih Bayram gave a mini concert for about two hours. During this concert, they performed Classical Turkish Music as well as Turkish Pop and Folk Music.

The audience was served with borek, salad and beverages. When the night ended at around 11 PM, our visitors were happy to have participated.

Doner (Turkish Gyro) Day

"Doner Day " which took place at Sunday night was extremely crowded. With about 150 participants the night started at 6:00 PM. Delicious doner was prepared by "Donerci" Chief Cavit and served with pilaf and salad.

Our visitors were presented with information about Turkey and our organization, Marti.

At this night, which our American friends also attended, we watched a CD about Turkey, which was prepared by Turkish Ministry of Culture. The activity was about 3 hours.

Our vice president Fatih Kuzu had a meeting with Turkey's honorary ambassador to US Mr. Cenap Kirat
Mr Kuzu informed the ambassador about Marti's activities and future plans. Mr. Kuzu also recieved Kiratli's comments on non-profit organizations such as Marti. Kiratli stated: "Your activities are great. Thank you. I will always be ready for help with future projects."

In the future we want to post his conference and the interview on the website. Thank you Mr. Kiratli for all you have done!

Manti Day

Our members gathered at MANTI day which is organized by MARTI. Around 50 people attending the event are stuffed with delicious Turkish MANTI and had chance to chat. Our American friends attending to the event which is the first ever to be organized in Maryland were also impressed with the taste of MANTI and they got the recipe information from the people who prepared it. Our aim is to introduce famous Turkish cuisine to people from other etnicities by organizing such events.

Neighbor Picnic
MARTI Members gathered together with their neighbors at a Picnic organized by MARTI. The picnic is held at Brighton Dam which has a great scene of dam and river. About 60 people attanded to the picnic and they enjoyed wonderful Turkish meatballs and chicken BBQ. People had great time with their neighbors at this event which is planned to be organized each year, on the first sunday of August. The message given by most of the attendees at the end of picnic is "awakening the neighborhood with such events for a better life in terms of peace and harmony is a must. This event should be organized in a bigger picnic area with more attendees".

MARTI plans to have such a picnic organization every year with a growing interest and we would like all our members to mark their calendars and share this event with their neighbors in advance.
